BEAST OF THE EAST

Wow. I hope that every West Virginia fan had their TV 's on Monday night if they were not in Atlanta. Quite simply, it was the biggest game in WVU football history, and shored up a bid for the Big East in the BCS system for years to come (the previous 3 teams to enter a BCS contest lost).

I had to work at the Foxfire the night of the game, but my best friends came up for a few days over their Christmas break and we got to watch the first half of the game togehter at Foxfire. Then I got off work and we watched the second half play out and unfold from my living room. We all had our WVU hoodies on, had the WVU coaster flying on top of the TV (blocking a nativity scene ((we were hoping to maybe channel some divine fan support as well)) and were passing the communal 16 oz WVU mug around filled with a Mountaineers' favorite game-time beverage---beer--- ). This game was one for the ages and the whole nation was witness to one of the greatest BCS upsets EVER. The game was played only 75 miles from UGA. The Mountaineers marched down to the durty-durty, went into the 'Dawgs backyard and led by two TRUE freshmen, rushed through their heralded secondary like a hot knife through butter.

We finished the season ranked 5th nationally. Whose ahead of us? Texas, USC, Penn State, Ohio State, then the good 'ole boys rockin' out the blue and gold. Pretty good company I'd say. Any other freshmen leading those teams....uhhh, nope. To put it best I quote rivals.com, "We shudder to think of those two together in the backfield for another 3 years." It's a reality folks.
We're here and we're here to stay.

Here's to hoisting the Big East banner on our shoulders and representing in front of the whole nation.

I just hope those unfortunate men of the mine in Sago got to see the victory from above. This win is for you, our true West-Virginians. There are no better people in the world.

Almost Heaven.
